Comparative Political Economy · International Political Economy

Mehmet Ali Demir

I am a researcher in political science, currently pursuing an M.A. in Political Science and International Relations at Koç University. My research examines how political institutions, electoral incentives, and global economic transformations shape policy outcomes, with a particular focus on green investment, democratic backsliding, inequality, and the governance of artificial intelligence.

Research

My research is situated at the intersection of comparative political economy, international political economy, and quantitative social science. I am especially interested in how political competition, institutional incentives, and global economic change shape public policy, distributive outcomes, and democratic trajectories.

Substantively, my work focuses on green industrial policy, democratic backsliding, global wealth inequality, artificial intelligence governance, international organizations, and skilled labor mobility.
